This website is the home of “Against The Tide” – a programme from Soundart Radio in Devon, UK, produced for broadcast on Radia stations worldwide.
The programme was produced collaboratively by Sue, Lucinda, Robert, Raf, Jared, Alex, James and Matthew. It follows the River Dart in beautiful South Devon from sea to source, using sounds recorded by, on and in the river – and the stories of the people we met along the way.
Broadcast time (Soundart Radio 102.5FM in the Dartington and Totnes area or live on the internet at soundartradio.org.uk):
1pm, Tuesday 16th December 2014.
If you have come to this website through finding a message in a bottle please let us know through our feedback form.
Here we are bottlingĀ those messages, from the people who contributed their voices to the show, and giving them to the River Dart to play with:
To us the river became metaphorically entwined with the swan: sometimes calm on the surface yet underneath there is always something happening. The river meanders through the Dart Valley up from Dartmouth through Totnes and onto Dartmoor – the source. It’s curves and bends remind us of the neck of a swan. We feel blessed to live in this beautiful part of the world and “Against The Tide” is an homage to those feelings and the generous contributors who made it possible.
